The Irvine Spectrum Center has announced the return of its ‘Movies Under the Stars’ event, which will host weekly outdoor movies on the lawn in front of the 108-foot tall Giant Wheel beginning Sunday, July 2.

With a variety of genres screening throughout the summer, families will be able to enjoy The Incredibles, Jurassic World, and Top Gun: Maverick, in addition to Pixar and Marvel features. 

The free, family-friendly series will host a total of nine outdoor movies, and will run through Sunday, August 27. Movie screenings will begin at 7 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis, with the front of the lawn designated to blanket-to-blanket seating.   

In terms of regulations, low lawn chairs with a maximum seat height of 6 inches, and a maximum chair back height of 21 inches are welcome. Snacks are also welcome, but large food set ups and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

In addition to the Irvine Spectrum Center’s outdoor movie screenings, the City of Irvine is also hosting several events including outdoor movies and free outdoor concerts this summer.  

The city’s Movies on the Lawn will be screening two movies in July, with more dates expected. Screenings will take place at the Great Park Terraced Lawn, with movies beginning after sunset. 

Movies at the Lawn attendees can also take advantage of food trucks, and a snack bar which will be available starting at 6:30 p.m., and will be subject to change depending on weather.

Irvine is bringing back another summertime musical tradition this summer with the return of the Sizzlin Summer Concert series. This year fans of live music can experience musical genres from the 1940s to the sounds of old school funk. 

The Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts kick off on Saturday, July 22. This year, all concerts will take place at Mike Ward Community Park in Woodbridge. Each concert will begin at 5:30 p.m. Snacks and food trucks will be available for purchase. Outside snacks and picnic style set ups are also welcome.
